Based on the proportions of the testing prototype, we are probably dealing with a successor of the Envision. However, Buick’s worst-selling crossover isn’t going to get a new-gen model. Instead, the unpopular nameplate will make room for a totally new and definitely more interesting SUV. Interestingly, word on the street is that this new model is actually the production version of the Buick Enspire Concept. This makes a lot of sense, since the concept SUV looks really gorgeous; plus, it made debut with an awesome electric powertrain
Judging by our insiders, the production model will hit showrooms late next year as the 2021 Buick Enspire. Unfortunately, this particular prototype doesn’t have electricity in mind. Instead, the sleek and sexy crossover comes paired with a gasoline engine. That’s for sure because the rear end features a pair of exhaust tips. Our best guess is GM’s all-new 2.0L Turbo LSY engine. The ultra-efficient option kicks out 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The option will be teamed with a new 9-speed automatic ‘box that will send power to either front- or all-wheel drive.
Despite this prototype clearly hosts the aforementioned engine, we expect the 2021 Buick Enspire at some point. The automaker will not skip the opportunity to offer the concepts beast powertrain that pumps out 550 horsepower and a 370-mile range, but that’s not going to be Buick’s entry-point Enspire EV for sure. Instead, the automaker will probably introduce an option that cuts power and the drive-range on a half.
You don’t have to be a genius to figure out how it’s going to look the 2021 Buick Enspire. The crossover will largely resemble the concept, but it won’t get as sleek bodylines as the gorgeous concept SUV. That’s a shame, because this way, the automaker spoiled everything. Just take a look at the profile image of the prototype and you will recognize some familiar cues. Yes, Buick’s all-new SUV get almost identical lines as the Jaguar F-Pace. Moreover, the rear end looks stolen too, so we hope to see at least different headlights, taillights, and grille. Otherwise, the Buick Enspire is pointless. Well, there might be one good point in the form of a significantly lower price.
Stay tuned for updates as the development continues.
